This page aims to point you in the right direction to carry out your own research both locally and internationally.
If you wish to do your own research and live in, or are visiting, the Yeovil area then please do call at the Society’s Family History Centre. Several of our Local Groups based throughout Somerset and Dorset run self-help sessions at local venues. If you aren’t based locally, then the Society’s experienced Volunteers can carry out research for you.
We have a guide to getting started.
For links to local record offices, museums and other family history societies, click here. We have many books about the two counties, and family/local history for sale in our online bookshop.
Did they move over the County boundaries? Contact details for neighbouring and national Family History Societies can be found here.
We are not able to recommend particular professional researchers. You can usually find their services advertised in commercial publications such as Family Tree Magazine, and also in our own Journal The Greenwood Tree, and we would suggest that you look in those for someone who can undertake work for you.
