Along the Dusty Road – Motor Buses and Carriers from Dorchester (Roger Grimley) At the beginning of the twentieth century Dorset was, as it is still, a largely unknown county. Primarily an agricultural area, its inhabitants were country people and much of the county was remote, the railway serving only the extremities. Local transport needs were met by principally by country carriers. Dorchester is the focal point of a number of valleys and main roads. Taking each of the routes out of Dorchester in turn, a booklet deals with one of them, together with the men who introduced public motor transport in the first half of the 20th century. All the booklets have soft covers. We have no stock of Parts One and Ten.
