(Ed Charlotte H Lindgren) – Dorset Record Society publication 10.
William Barnes was eighteen years old when he first glimpsed a lively young girl, whose name was Julia Miles, he believed to be ‘about sixteen’ with bright blue eyes and wavy brown hair alighting from the London stage coach in front of the King’s Arms Hotel on High East Street in Dorchester. He knew at once that some day she would become his wife.
This book provides a transcription of the poems and letters which the two of them wrote to each other before they were eventually married many years later in 1827.
